Picture Story: Myanmar

Larpwe (lah-pway) remembers approaching this small village for the first time. He didn’t know how people would react to him, but he kept moving forward. With tools in hand, he walked up to a random house and asked if he could help the family in their garden.

This Global Mission pioneer grew up in Myanmar, also known as Burma, not far from the village he first visited. But there was a key difference: No one in the new village knew Jesus yet.

Two years have passed, and Larpwe still serves in this same village. Even after his eye was damaged in an accident, his simple approach remains steady: help people, befriend them, and then tell them about Jesus.

During the hours and hours of working in gardens and fields with these villagers, Larpwe has shared the Bible with most of them. So far, 45 people have accepted Jesus into their hearts and even more are interested!

They worship in Larpwe’s home each Sabbath and also gather together during the week. Please remember these villagers as they grow in their faith. Pray that other villages in Myanmar will also be reached by this message of hope.
